Clippers and Red Hot Pelicans Battle on TNT

The backend of Tuesday’s NBA doubleheader on TNT features a Western Conference clash between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Los Angeles Clippers. Game time from Staples Arena is set for 10:30 p.m. (ET).

BetAnySports opened the Clippers as three-point home favorites with the total set at 236 points. The total has held pretty steady, but the line has fell to the Clippers -2.5.

Pelicans Enter the Clippers Game Playing Best Ball of Season

With Sunday’s 126-109 victory against Dallas, as a 3.5-point road favorite, New Orleans has now won its last eight games straight-up.  They are also a profitable 7-1 record against the spread.

The total went OVER BetAnySports’ closing 222.5-point line in that game and it has gone OVER in the Pelicans’ last six outings. They are 19-14 SU on the road this season with a 21-12 record ATS.

It was a total team effort against the Mavericks on Sunday. Jrue Holiday led all scorers with 30 points. Nikola Mirotic added 24 points as well. Four of New Orleans’ starters ended that game in double figures. Anthony Davis posted 23 points and 13 rebounds for his eighth-straight double-double.

He is averaging 28.0 PPG and has scored 38 points or more in five of those previous eight games.

Clippers are Hot as Well

The Clippers remained hot with Sunday’s 123-120 win at home against Brooklyn. They have won nine of their last 12 games SU to improve to 34-28 on the year. They failed to cover against the Nets as seven-point home favorites.

They slid to 6-2 ATS in their last eight games. The total has gone OVER in six of their last seven games. Los Angeles is 18-13 SU at home this season with a 17-12 record ATS.

Austin Rivers scored 27 points on Sunday with Tobias Harris adding 26 points to the winning cause. Lou Williams added 21 points off the bench. He continues to lead Los Angeles in scoring with an average of 23.1 points per game. Harris is second on the team in scoring, at 19 ppg, since coming over from Detroit.

The Clippers are ranked seventh in the league in points with an average of 109.1 PPG. They fall to 22^nd at the other end of the court when it comes to points allowed by giving up 108.0 per.

Each of these teams is playing solid ball right now, but my lean in this matchup is with New Orleans both SU and ATS as the hotter betting team of the two.
