Draft Sports Betting Regulations
Indiana made sports betting news headlines when it became the 10th state to make sports wagering legal. The law will allow betting on sports at retail locations and through mobile apps. Sportsbook agents, industry insiders, and the general public can submit comments and recommendations for the proposed rules until August 1. After the deadline, the regulations will be settled.
One particular rule that the Gaming Commission is taking a closer look at is to allow sports betting at the event venue or not. Bookie solution providers think the rule can hurt attendance of sporting events in the state. Instead of watching the game where they are not allowed to gamble, people might consider watching it at home or from a bar.
In addition, regulators want to ban betting on amateur sports or esports if the participants are under 18 years old. Also, gambling news sites report that sports betting revenue will have a tax rate of 9.5 percent. Regulators also want to create a Sports Wagering Integrity Monitoring Association to ensure fairness at all times.
