College Football Odds: New-Look Playoff Format Unfolds Thursday

Betting on the 2014 FBS National Champion

Since the regular season finished last summer, the college football
betting community has been salivating over the arrival of a four-team
playoff bracket. At long last, after months of grueling competition, the
new postseason is about to begin.

Bet on college football at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

This Thursday, the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide will look to secure its
spot in the finals by one-upping the hungry Ohio State Buckeyes (No. 4)
in the semifinals. With a 12-1 record, it’s not surprising that the
fearsome Tide is a 9-point favorite over Ohio State for this Sugar Bowl
game. Alabama is the 11/10 favorite to win the title. The futures market
also offers an exact matchup bet for the NCAA National Championship
game, and the Alabama versus Oregon is favored with a -140 moneyline.

Oregon is scheduled to face the reigning champion Florida State
Seminoles on Thursday for a chance to contend in the final game. The
Ducks are early 9-point favorites in the matchup, but the Seminoles are
certainly capable of dealing damage.

The football world has been waiting for this week for months now, and
each of the four squads has experienced their fair share of time under
the spotlight. It’s time to see how the first year of postseason action
unfolds.

College Football Betting: Las Vegas Bowl Puts No. 22 Utah in Hot Seat

Betting on the Las Vegas Bowl

This Saturday, the No. 22-ranked Utah Utes will square off against
the Colorado State Rams in the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl. The Utes are
slight -3.5 favorites, but don’t underestimate the Rams. A nine-game
winning streak from September to November had the NCAA betting community
wondering what the Rams were capable of.

Bet on college football at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Expect Colorado State quarterback Garrett Grayson to be front and
center at the year-end event. He threw for 37 touchdowns this season and
an impressive 3,779 yards. His powerful arm has already helped his
franchise overachieve in 2014 (they were 10-2 against the spread) and
has shown no signs of slowing down.

However, Utah is favored for a reason. While they may not have put
forth numbers as intriguing as their opponents, they went up against
top-ranked opponents. The Rams didn’t face any top 25 opponents;
whereas, the Utes faced five of them, and won two.

With what ended up being an 8-4 record (compared to Colorado State’s
10-2 record), Utah managed to win enough to get in contention for the
Las Vegas Bowl this December. It’s that valuable experience against
top-caliber competition that gives them the edge.

Gildan New Mexico Bowl: Texas El Paso Miners vs. Utah State Aggies

Betting on the Gildan New Mexico Bowl

The Texas El Paso Miners and the Utah State Aggies will both be
trying to pick up a win on Saturday when they battle at University
Stadium.

Oddsmakers currently have the Aggies listed as 10½-point favorites versus the Miners, while the game’s total is sitting at 44.

Utah State lost its last outing, a 50-19 result against Boise State
on November 29. Utah State failed to cover in that game as a 10-point
underdog, while the 69 combined points took the game OVER the total.

In their last action, Texas El Paso was a 24-21 winner at home
against Middle Tennessee. They covered the 2.5-point spread as
favorites, while the combined score (45) was profitable news for UNDER
bettors.

Texas El Paso:

Team record: 7-5 SU,9-3 ATS

Texas El Paso is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games

Texas El Paso is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games

The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Texas El Paso’s last 6 games

Utah State:

Team record: 9-4 SU,6-7 ATS

Utah State is 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games

Utah State is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games

The total has gone OVER in 4 of Utah State’s last 6 games

Your Complete 2014-2015 College Football Bowl Schedule, Write-ups and Opening Lines

Betting on Bowl Games and TopBet

The 2014-2015 college football bowl schedule is here, and it’s never been sweeter.

Bowl season peaks around New Year’s, and the inaugural College Football Playoff,
which will feature three teams (Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State) that
ranked in the top 20 in scoring this season, and the fourth, Florida
State, hasn’t lost a game since 2012. Of those four, two will play in
the National Championship on January 12, capping off what will be an
incredible run of great games.

But there’s so much more. The Big 12’s TCU Horned Frogs and Baylor
Bears were both left out of the Playoff for 2015, but are nonetheless
set to play in prestigious bowls. TCU gets the Ole Miss Rebels in the
Peach Bowl, a game that will be defined by the struggle between the
Frogs’ impressive passing game and Ole Miss’ elite secondary.

Baylor, in the meantime, will face one Michigan State’s exceptional
defense in the Cotton Bowl. Nonetheless, linesmakers are expecting
offense (the total is set at 72), perhaps in part because Baylor has won
its last four games by double digits.

Speaking of high scoring, Arizona meets Boise State in the Fiesta
Bowl on the last day of 2014, and Mississippi State gets Georgia Tech in
the Orange Bowl. The Fiesta Bowl could come down to turnovers, as Boise
State crippled themselves with giveaways in their two losses this
season, and Arizona has the 24th-best turnover margin in the country.
The Orange Bowl, on the other hand, will be decided on the ground, as
both sides have Top 25 rushing attacks.

All that said, you can’t go wrong if you’re watching college football
over the holidays, even outside of the big six. Dig into all the games
and their betting lines below and get ready for what should be an
incredible finish to the college football season.
