Dodgers and Nationals in primtime for spot in NLCS against Cubs - Handicappers Hideaway

2016 MLB NLDS

Hill and Scherzer Battle in Pivotal Game 5

A spot in the NLCS is on the line as Los Angeles Dodgers and the
Washington Nationals are playing game #5 of their NLDS matchup on
Thursday. The Chicago Cubs are waiting after advancing to the NLCS by
beating the San Francisco Giants.

Washington made a great comeback in game #4. In the 7th inning the
Natties chased Dodger starter Clayton Kershaw and scored 3-runs to tie
it at 5 a piece. The resilient Dodgers scored on in the bottom of the
8th to push the NLDS series to the final and pivotal game.

Left hander Rich Hill will take the mound for the Dodgers to start this game. Hill is 12-6 this season with a 2.35 ERA.

Hill’s opponent in this one will be Max Scherzer. The Nationals right
hander has a 3.03 ERA to go along with a 20-8 record this season.

Oddsmakers currently have the Nationals listed as 158-moneyline favorites versus the Dodgers, while the game’s total is sitting at 7.

Washington was a 6-5 loser in its last match on the road against the
Dodgers. They lost as +213 underdogs, while the total score of 11 made
winners of OVER bettors.

Los Angeles won its last outing, a 6-5 result against the Nationals
on October 11. Bettors who backed the Dodgers at -231 on the moneyline
won on the day, and the total score (11) sent OVER bettors to the payout
window.

As September approaches, the San Francisco Giants (68-56, -2.15 betting
units) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (69-55, -4.91 betting units) are
battling for the National League West title. The Dodgers host the Giants
in the second of a three-game set on Wednesday, starting at 10:10 PM
ET.

Bet on baseball at Bovada and get a 50% bonus.

The Giants will start with Johnny Cueto (14-3, 2.90 ERA) who’s coming of
an 8-1 win over the New York Mets. Cueto allowed a run on eight hits
over seven innings, striking out two and he didn't walk a batter for the
first time in eight starts. The 30-year-old All-Star is 2-0 in three
starts against the Dodgers this season, posting an ERA of 3.63.

The Dodgers will counter with Rich Hill (9-3, 2.25 ERA), who’s back in
action for the first time in over a month. He returns from the disabled
list with a blister, hoping to make his Dodgers debut. In his last start
with the Oakland Athletics, Hill won a 3-1 decision in Houston, giving
up a run on three hits over six innings with 10 strikeouts and a pair of
walks. The 36-year-old lefty is 2-1 in five career starts against the
Giants with an ERA of 3.18.

Archer set to start for the Rays vs Dodgers - Handicappers Hideaway

Norris will have the edge in experience when he meets Chris Archer in
the opener of a two-game set Tuesday in Los Angeles. Norris' most recent
outing came in relief, two days after his last start. He pitched during
the 15th inning Friday night against the Cardinals and gave up a
walk-off home run to Matt Adams in the 16th with the Dodgers short on
arms. Norris has allowed 20 runs (19 earned) in 37 innings over seven
appearances (six starts) in his career against the Rays.

On the other side Archer will lack the familiarity in his first career
appearance against Los Angeles. The Rays are 2-10 in Archer's last 12
starts, and he owns a 4.74 ERA in 74 innings with opponents hitting .248
against him over that stretch. He is 2-1 in Interleague Play this
season with a 4.00 ERA over 18 innings and three starts.

This will be the beginning for the The Dodgers of a five-game homestand
with a two-game set against The Tampa Bay Rays starting Tuesday night.

They are rumored to have interest in Rays right-hander Chris Archer. The
fact that Los Angeles president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman
worked for Tampa in a similar capacity for nine seasons before being
lured here adds to the intrigue. A deal for Archer might shore up some
of the void left by injured ace Clayton Kershaw, who is on the 15 day
disabled list with mild disc herniation and whose return is unknown.

Wager506.com has The Dodgers at -1 1/2 and -1/2 on the first 5 innings, both lines at -105 in the morning. Join today for 150% Welcome Bonus plus 50% extra when you mention Handicappers Hideaway.

Two National League teams with postseason plans this season clash this
Tuesday night in Game 1 of a three-game series when the Los Angeles
Dodgers go on the road to face the Washington Nationals. BetAnySports
has opened Los Angeles as a +110 road underdog with the money line on
the Nationals set at -120. The total line for this game has been set at
8.5.

The Dodgers (52-42) come into this series 5.5 games in back of San
Francisco in the NL West Division race. They dropped two of three to
Arizona this past weekend on the road despite scoring a total of 19
runs. The total on BetAnySports’ closing line went OVER in two of the
three games. Los Angeles is now 22-24 on the road this season and the
total has gone OVER in seven of its last 10 road games.

Scott Kazmir is listed as the Dodgers starter for Tuesday night. The
left-hander improved his record to 7-3 with four victories and no losses
over his last nine starts and Los Angeles has gone 7-2 during this run.
Kazmir was not at his best in his last start on July 8 against San
Diego. He got tagged for three earned runs on six hits (including one
home run) in just three innings pitched.

Washington got the second half of its season off to a good start with a
2-1 series victory against Pittsburgh at home over the weekend. The
Nationals are now 56-37 overall and six games up on both New York and
Miami in the NL East heading into this week’s action. The total stayed
UNDER in all three games against the Pirates and it has now stayed UNDER
in eight of their last 10 games on BetAnySports’ closing line.

Top pitching prospect Reynaldo Lopez is slated to make his Major League
debut on Tuesday night as Washington’s starter. He accumulated 109
strikeouts and an ERA of 3.19 in 16 starts this season at both the
Double-A and Triple-A level. He will be facing a Los Angeles lineup that
is ranked ninth in the NL in average runs scored (4.3).

The Dodgers swept Washington in three home games back in late June and
they should have the edge on the mound in this matchup. I am still
betting on the home team in this one on the strength of a 29-16 record
at Nationals Park this year. Lopez is an unknown entity to Los Angeles’
bats and that should work in his favor.

Wednesday's series finale between the Nationals and Dodgers in Los Angeles present 2 young starters, Joe Ross and Julio Urias.

Ross, 23, has enjoyed a strong season as part of a Nationals rotation
that ranks fourth in the Majors in ERA. He's come down a bit recently,
though, allowing 11 earned runs across his last three starts. Ross'

innings and pitches have been counted by the organization, but Ross
hasn't lost in a month, coming as a pleasant "surprise" to his manager.

Urias, 19, will make the sixth start of a career that has seen a clear
upward trend. Urias' ERA stands at 4.50 and he's shown improvement in
every start, tossing five scoreless innings in the Dodgers' 3-2
extra-inning win over the Milwaukee Brewers in his last start. He
allowed five hits and struck out a career-high eight batters against
just one walk on 85 pitches. Manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that
Urias would get another start after Wednesday, but beyond that is
uncertain.

MLB Odds: Giants Host Dodgers on FS1

One of the greatest rivalries in sports continues this Saturday (4:05 PM
ET, FS1) when the San Francisco Giants host the Los Angeles Dodgers.
It'll be a classic pitcher's duel between San Francisco lefty Madison
Bumgarner, the three-time World Series champion, and Los Angeles
southpaw Clayton Kershaw, the three-time National League Cy Young Award
winner.

Oddsmakers have this matchup pegged as a low-scoring game as the total
is at 6 Under -115 and the moneline is the Dodgers -135 on the dimeline.

Bet on baseball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Both pitchers got the win to start the 2016 season for their respective
clubs. Kershaw allowed just one hit over seven innings as the Dodgers
pummeled the San Diego Padres (+185 at home) 15-0. Bumgarner was a bit
shakier, giving up all three runs in just five innings of work as the
Giants thrashed the Milwaukee Brewers (+166 at home) 12-3.

These same two pitchers faced each other four times during the 2015
regular season, with the teams splitting the series 2-2. Three of the
games went under despite the total dipping as low as 5.5 runs. The
Dodgers have a long list of injured players heading into the weekend,
including catcher Yasmani Grandal (.756 OPS last year), second baseman
Howie Kendrick (.746 OPS), and worst of all, outfielder Andre Ethier
(.852 OPS), who isn't expected to play until June because of a broken
tibia.

MLB Odds: Kershaw, Dodgers Host Zimmermann, Nationals - Handicappers Hideaway

Betting on Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball

Kershaw, Dodgers Host Zimmermann, Nationals

Two National League powerhouses wrap up a three-game set on Wednesday in
Los Angeles as the Dodgers host the Washington Nationals. On their best
days, either of these starting pitchers can make any lineup in the
majors look foolish.

Bet on baseball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

The Dodgers will go with Clayton Kershaw, who is a three-time Cy Young
winner and the defending MVP. He saw his scoreless-innings streak
snapped at 37 innings in his last outing. However, he returns home where
he’ 6-2 in 10 starts this season with an ERA of 1.66. Batters are
hitting just .188 off him in those outings. The Nationals counter with
Jordan Zimmermann, who is 0-2 in his last five starts, although he has
had some bad luck over that time. Zimmermann has been erratic on the
road this season, going 4-4 in 10 starts with an ERA of 4.95, which is
more than two runs higher than his ERA at home.

What’s more is that Kershaw has had his way with the Nationals
throughout his career, going 8-2 in 12 games (11 starts) with an ERA of
2.31. That includes the July 18 outing where Kershaw tossed eight
shutout innings of three-hit ball, striking out a season-high 14 batters
in a 4-2 win on the road in Washington.

MLB Odds: Dodgers Send Kershaw to Hill Versus Phillies - Handicappers Hideaway

Betting on Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball

MLB Odds: Dodgers Send Kershaw to Hill Versus Phillies

Current Bovada Line: Dogers are -380 favorites and the total is a 6 1/2 Under -115.

Clayton Kershaw may be the National League’s reigning MVP, but from a
betting perspective, he’s about as bad as it gets. The Los Angeles
Dodgers are just 8-9 in Kershaw’s starts this year, losing 9.89 betting
units in the process. Only reigning AL Cy Young winner Corey Kluber
(–13.90 units) has done worse this year. Kershaw will try to improve his
bottom line this Wednesday when the Philadelphia Phillies visit Chavez
Ravine. First pitch is at 10:10 PM ET.

Bet on baseball at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

Kershaw (2.54 FIP) has been holding up his end of the bargain.
However, he’s not quite as dominant as he was last year (1.81 FIP), and
the Dodgers are only scoring 3.94 runs per game when he starts, down
from their usual 4.16 runs per game. That, plus all the extra chalk
Kershaw takes to the mound, explains his difficulties with red ink this
year.

The Phillies don’t have to worry about chalk. They’re the worst team
in the majors by far, and on Wednesday, they’re going to throw Adam
Morgan to the wolves. This will be Morgan’s third big-league start; the
Phillies split the first two behind their young southpaw, who allowed
three runs in 12.2 innings.

MLB Preview: Los Angeles Dodgers (67-52) vs. Atlanta Braves (60-57)

Betting on Braves Baseball

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves will both be gunning for a victory on Monday when they meet at Turner Field.

The Dodgers will trot Dan Haren out to the mound in this one. Right hander Haren has a 9-9 record and a 4.57 ERA this season.

Meanwhile, it’ll be Julio Teheran who starts for the Braves. Right hander Teheran is 10-8 with a 2.92 ERA so far this season.

Oddsmakers currently have the Braves listed as 160-moneyline
favorites versus the Dodgers, while the game’s total is sitting at 7½.

The Braves were a 3-1 winner in their most recent outing at home
against the Nationals. That made winners of bettors who got Atlanta at
-114 on the moneyline, while the total score (4) was good news for UNDER
bettors.

Los Angeles won its last outing, a 5-1 result against the Brewers on
August 10. Bettors who backed the Dodgers at -150 on the moneyline won
on the day, and the total score (6) sent UNDER bettors to the payout
window.

BetAnySports’ MLB Pick of the Week: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates- Tuesday, July 22

Betting on Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates- Tuesday, July 22

BetAnySports’ current line: Pirates -118/108 and the total is 8 -110

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Pittsburgh Pirates will continue a
three-game set at PNC Park this week with Game 2 this Tuesday night with
a scheduled start of 7:05 p.m. (ET). Josh Beckett is scheduled to get
the start for the Dodgers and Vance Worley is penciled-in as the starter
for Pittsburgh. The Pirates have been opened by BetAnySports as 110 favorites at home and the total has been set at 8.

The Dodgers (55-45) head into this series tied with San Francisco for
the lead in the NL West. They dropped two of three to St. Louis on the
road this past weekend to kick things off in the second half of the MLB
regular season. They avoided a sweep with a 4-3 victory on Sunday with
staff ace Clayton Kershaw on the mound. BetAnySports’ closing MLB
moneyline listed Los Angeles as a prohibitive 174 road favorite in that
game. The Dodgers have been opened as 113 road favorites for Monday’s
series opener against Pittsburgh with the total set at 7.5.

Los Angeles remains one of the top scoring teams in the NL with an
average of 4.12 runs a game. Its pitching is also ranked near the top of
the list with a 3.30 team ERA. Beckett recently spent some time on the
DL with a hip injury and he will be making his first start since July 6.
The right-hander is 6-5 this season with a 2.26 ERA in 17 previous
starts.

Pittsburgh finds itself in the thick of the NL Central Division race
with an overall record of 52-46. It is an even 5-5 in its last 10 games,
but coming off a three-game sweep of Colorado this past weekend. The
Pirates outscored the Rockies 12-7 in that series to improve to 32-20 at
home this year. They are now a game and a half behind both Milwaukee
and St. Louis heading into this series.

This is another team that has gotten some solid production at the
plate this season with an average of 4.11 runs a game. The issue through
much of the first half has been an inconsistent pitching staff that is
ranked ninth in the NL with a team ERA of 3.69. Worley has been in and
out of the starting rotation and he will be making his first start since
July 8. The right-hander has been tagged for nine earned runs on 17
combined hits in his last three starts.

Both of these starters come into Tuesday’s game with more questions
than answers when it comes to current form. Given the ability that both
of these teams have to score runs I am going with the OVER 8 on BetAnySports’ betting odds for this game.

Sunday Night Baseball: Los Angeles Dodgers (54-45) vs. St. Louis Cardinals (54-44)

Betting on St. Louis Cardinals Baseball

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals will both be
trying to pick up a win on Sunday when they battle at Busch Stadium.

The Dodgers will pin their hopes on the pitching of left hander
Clayton Kershaw in this game. Kershaw has a 11-2 record and a 1.77 ERA
this season.

Meanwhile, it’ll be Carlos Martinez who starts for the Cardinals.
Right hander Martinez is 2-4 with a 4.43 ERA so far this season.

Oddsmakers currently have the Dodgers listed as 190-moneyline
favorites versus the Cardinals, while the game’s total is sitting at 6½.

In their last action, Los Angeles was a 4-2 loser on the road against
the Cardinals. Bettors on St. Louis at +142 on the moneyline collected
their winnings from that game, while the total score (6) sent UNDER
bettors home happy as well.

Los Angeles:

Team record: 54-45

The total has gone UNDER in 6 of LA Dodgers’s last 7 games

LA Dodgers is 1-5 SU in its last 6 games on the road

The total has gone UNDER in 4 of LA Dodgers’s last 5 games on the road

The total has gone UNDER in 5 of LA Dodgers’s last 6 games when playing St. Louis

St. Louis:

Team record: 54-44

St. Louis is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games

St. Louis is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games at home

BetAnySports’ MLB Pick of the Week: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Detroit Tigers- Tuesday, July 8

Betting on Detroit Tigers Baseball

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Detroit Tigers- Tuesday, July 8

BetAnySports’ current line: Tigers -110 and the total is listed at 8 1/2

BetAnySports listed the Los Angeles Dodgers as +275 favorites to win
the National League before the new MLB season got underway. It also had
Detroit listed as a +350 favorite to win the American League. In what
could easily be a preview of this year’s World Series, these two MLB
powers will now square-off in a brief two-game interleague battle
starting this Tuesday night at Comerica Park.

The Dodgers come into Tuesday’s series opener with some solid
momentum after winning six of their last nine games. After trailing San
Francisco in the NL West for a good part of the season, they have opened
a half-game lead over the Giants as of Sunday’s games with a record of
51-40. Los Angeles is one of best road teams in the Majors at 29-17 and
the total has stayed UNDER in four of its last six games on the road.

It will be Hyun-Jin Ryu’s turn in the Dodgers’ starting rotation for
Tuesday night. The left-hander has picked-up where he left off after a
stellar rookie campaign with a 9-4 mark in 16 previous starts this
season. He is coming off another quality start in which he held
Cleveland to two earned runs on seven hits through seven full innings
pitched. Ryu has a 3.08 ERA on the year with a WHIP of 1.19.

It has been a constant roller-coaster ride for Detroit this season
and it is on another downhill run after losing three of four to Tampa
Bay this past weekend. This followed an impressive three-game sweep of
Oakland last week with all seven games played at home. The Tigers still
have a four-game lead over Kansas City in the AL Central title race at
48-37, but they have really struggled to consistently win at home this
year with a record of 23-22. The total on BetAnySports’ closing betting
odds has gone OVER in their last five games.

Justin Verlander is scheduled to be on the mound as Detroit’s starter
for Tuesday’s contest. He has also had his share of ups and downs this
season, but the right-hander appears to have regained his form by
allowing a total of seven earned runs in his last three starts.
Verlander held the Athletics to two earned runs on nine hits to pick-up
his seventh win of the season last Wednesday and he is now 7-7 on the
year with a 4.71 ERA in 18 previous starts.

BetAnySports
has opened Los Angeles as a +111 road underdog for Tuesday night with
Detroit listed as a -110 home favorite. The total for this contest has
been set at 8.5. This game should feature a great showdown on the mound
that could easily be worthy of a play on BetAnySport’s UNDER betting
line, but I am going with Verlander and the Tigers to get a much-needed
win at home as my top pick in this matchup.

MLB Odds: Dodgers Chase Illusive NL West Division Lead

Betting on Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball

With no shortage of momentum, the Los Angeles Dodgers
will take on the San Diego Padres this weekend. If they’re lucky,
they’ll get a chance to close the gap between themselves and the NL
West-leading San Francisco Giants. Are L.A.’s 7/1 odds to win the World
Series foretelling or just overly ambitious?
Bet on baseball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.
Neck and neck with the Giants in the sportsbook, the
Dodgers trail by four games in the standings. That’s why the Dodgers
will need to pad their win total against the struggling Padres while
they can.
Los Angeles has long been a popular MLB betting
option and while they’ve looked solid in 2014, the Giants have looked
spectacular. As a result, the two clubs are tied for second in World
Series futures. The Dodgers are +125 to win the division, slightly
behind the San Francisco Giants (-200).
The Padres have made news of late. Former San
Diego’s Tony Gwynn’s life is being celebrated after the legendary Hall
of Famer passed away this week. The team hasn’t enjoyed much success on
the field, and that bodes well for Dodgers fans hungry to advance in the
standings.
