NCAA Football Odds: No. 18 Auburn at No. 13 LSU in SEC action - Handicappers Hideaway
NCAA Football Odds: No. 18 Auburn at No. 13 LSU in SEC action
There are still some non-conference games to take care of in Week 3, but
the SEC will be in the national spotlight on Saturday (3:30 PM ET, CBS)
as the No. 13 LSU Tigers whost the No. 18 Auburn Tigers to Baton Rouge
in SEC West action. LSU opened as a 7-point favorite at –105, moving to
–115 at press time after some early action on the home side while the
total was sitting at 49.
Bet on college football at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.
Neither the LSU Tigers or the Auburn War Eables have covered the spread
this season. Auburn has played and won twice straight up, but it took
overtime to beat the Jacksonville State Gamecocks (+40) 27-20 last week.
That’s Jacksonville State from the Ohio Valley Conference in the FCS.
LSU has played just once, edging out the Mississippi State Bulldogs
21-19 as a 4-point road chalk. LSU’s season opener against McNeese
State was postponed because of sever thunderstorms around Baton Rouge.
This figures to be a tough matchup for Auburn. First-year starter Jeremy
Johnson has already thrown five interceptions this year, and he’ll be
facing a LSU defense that statistically ranks among the nation’s best.
Auburn is also missing a number of injured players on offense. LSU will
be looking for revenge after getting hammered in a 41-7 decision to
Auburn (–7 at home) last year. Auburn is 2-3 SU and 4-1 ATS in their
last five meetings.

College Football Odds: Miss State Gets First Taste of NCAA Adversity
The Mississippi State Bulldogs were an undefeated force dominating
the NCAA ranks prior to a Week 12 loss against No. 5 Alabama. Now their
spot among college football’s playoff-bound top four is in jeopardy.
Miss State is still 8/1 to win the NCAA Football Championship, but it
will be challenging.
Bet on college football and get a free 50% bonus.
Still reeling from the five-point loss to the Crimson Tide,
Mississippi State would benefit from a victory over Vanderbilt. The
college football odds lean heavily in Mississippi’s favor, indicative of
what’s expected out of the Bulldogs heading into Week 13.
With so many teams still capable of earning the fourth and final
playoff spot, the Bulldogs will need to pull out all the stops during
the final stretch of their regular season campaign – even if that means
blowing out the -29.5 spread versus Vanderbilt.
Quarterback Dak Prescott has done a fine job keeping the Bulldogs at
the top of their game this season, throwing for 20 touchdowns and
running in 11 of his own. Now that the squad has faced its first taste
of adversity, his leadership skills will be tested. There’s plenty of
action to be played in the final weeks of the regular season.

North Carolina (0-0) vs. No. 6 South Carolina (0-0) Preview
North Carolina and South Carolina open up the college football season under the lights in Columbia tomorrow night on ESPN. South Carolina is at an all-time high in the preseason polls because of junior defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, one of the premier players in the country who was voted the nation's top defensive end last season and finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy balloting. The Gamecocks also return starting quarterback Connor Shaw, who has never lost at home as a starter.
One of Shaw's top targets will be junior wide receiver Bruce Ellington, who's also the starting point guard for South Carolina's basketball team. We can expect tight end Rory Anderson to get plenty of looks over the middle, as he's averaged 20.9 yards a catch during his first two seasons with the team. South Carolina did lose five senior linebackers to graduation but they feature an experienced returning secondary.
North Carolina also returns a talented quarterback in senior Bryn Renner, who has thrown for more than 3,000 yards each of the last two seasons. Renner' main target, wide receiver Quinshad Davis is also back. The South Carolina native who set freshman school records last season for receptions (61) and receiving yardage (776). 6-7, 305-pound left tackle James Hurst will protect Renner's blind side and redshirt freshman Jon Heck will start at right tackle. Hurst and Heck will be tested all night against Jadeveon Clowney, who recorded 13 sacks last season.
The Tar Heels look to bounce back from a down year defensively, as they were ranked 10th out of 12 teams in the ACC after allowing 32.9 points per game during conference play. Seven starters will return, including defensive end Kareem Martin, a second team all-conference selection last season. South Carolina is the highest-ranked opponent that North Carolina has faced since 2005.
This is a highly anticipated game because both teams have a lot of potential. The Gamecocks are considered one of the best teams in the country but the Tar Heels have an experienced quarterback in Bryn Renner and enough talent to hang around, even if the game is on the road. If Jadeveon Clowney is able to get in the North Carolina backfield, South Carolina will have no trouble winning this game, if not, will be closer than many expect.

BCS Odds Deem Alabama and LSU Near Equal for National Championship

Will the Jan. 9 matchup end up similar to the first? After sneaking past the Tide with a 9-6 overtime victory in Round 1, the Tigers will look to solve Alabama?s defense and start putting some touchdowns on the board this time out. Early betting lines favor the No. 1 in the National Championship Game but only by the slimmest of margins. Can the Tigers "cover the spread" as early -1 favorites? Get all the college football odds available for the game with Bovada. Though Alabama heads into the match lower on the totem pole, there's no denying their legitimacy as a national championship force.
