Nearly Undefeated San Diego State Hungry To Avenge Loss

The most surprising college basketball conference in the country has been led by a pair of relative unknowns for the majority of 2010-11, yet, now as February nears its end, each of the top MWC contenders remains ranked in the AP polls' top ten.

They might not have the brand power of Duke or Ohio State, but San Diego State and BYU are proving to be intriguing options when it comes to March Madness betting.

This Saturday, the nearly undefeated San Diego State Aztecs will host the only team that has handed them a loss this season. A victory will help justify their No. 6 ranking after starting the year off the list altogether.

Their Brigham Young Cougar opponents started the year as low as No. 23 before climbing up to the No. 7 spot they fill now.

According to Bodog's online sportsbook, the two schools are decent options when it comes to betting on the upcoming national tournament. Though the Aztecs might not be a household name any time soon, their ***15/1 odds*** of winning March Madness are hard to ignore.

In contrast, BYU has considerable ***30/1 odds*** of taking the crown.

The two teams met for the first time late last January and the Cougars came out on top 71-58. The Aztecs hadn't lost a game before or since, but the damage to their unblemished mark was done. This week a victory over BYU could go a long way towards their redemption in the eyes of the Selection Sunday committee that might peg them for a relatively easy schedule.

Top-Ranked Duke Tested Before March Madness

The Temple Owls have an opportunity to put the Atlantic 10 conference on the map prior to next month's national tournament and it comes this Wednesday against the top-ranked team in the country.

Be a Player. Bet on NCAA college basketball with Bodog.

The Duke Blue Devils reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press polls after losing it several weeks prior to a then-undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes team. Now 25-2 on the season, the Blue Devils will be anxious to close their season on a winning note.

According to Bodog's online sportsbook, Duke has **NCAA FUTURES** odds of winning March Madness.

Though at the top of the pack now, the Blue Devils haven't been without their share of mishaps this season, dropping a pair of games already to unranked opponents. Though the Owls aren't unranked (No. 24 according to the AP) they're an easily overlooked team contending in a lesser known conference.

Temple is currently second in their division behind just Xavier in the Atlantic 10, but will they have enough weapons to keep up with a hungry Duke team preparing for its final charge. Bet on the Temple Owls to cover the spread (or win the game outright) with Bodog.

Could the Blue Devils fall to the Owls altogether? A victory for Temple would surely improve their standings in the polls, and stranger things have happened to Duke - just ask San Jose and Florida State.

Any more surprising losses might severely affect Duke's odds of winning the NCAA tournament this year, as they could be taken as signs of a team lacking discipline less than a year removed from their last championship.

Struggling Lakers Seek Redemption After Break

The Los Angeles Lakers have struggled of late, at least in comparison to the lofty expectations fans and NBA bettors had of them prior to the season. As reigning back-to-back champions, the bar has been set reasonably high.

According to Bodog's online sportsbook, they have 4/1 Odds odds of winning the NBA championship despite their recent slide.

In the 10 games leading up to last Sunday's All-Star break, the Lakers had gone 5-5 - including losses in their last three consecutive games. This week the club will look to bounce back and reclaim superiority atop the Western Conference. Will there be enough time?

It won't be easy, but Kobe Bryant's recent All-Star Game MVP might just give them the necessary boost to get over the hump. They'll have their first true test next Sunday when they visit Oklahoma City to do battle with Kevin Durant and the Thunder.

Bet on the NBA with Bodog and choose sides in Lakers vs. Thunder.

Will Durant continue to lead his young squad to what appears to be home court advantage in the Western Conference? They'll have their work cut out for them hanging onto a top seed in a tough bracket, but a big win over the Lakers could go a long way in helping them preserve their current fourth-place position.

The Thunder have been steadily improving their NBA forecast for the past three seasons.

Currently third in the West, the Lakers are in a position where anything less than a No. 1 seed will be considered a disappointment. You can imagine how that makes captain Bryant feel.

Both teams have their share of incentive to come away with the nationally-televised W this Sunday, so as far as NBA betting is concerned, it might come down to which team can take the necessary steps to prepare for the big match.

We've seen the Lakers take must-win games countless times before, but we've also learned not to underestimate 22-year-old Durant and the Thunder.

NBA Pick: Sacramento Kings at Miami Heat

The Sacramento Kings travel east to take on the Miami Heat this Tuesday night at the American Airlines Arena in a matchup of two teams headed in completely opposite directions. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. (ET) and it will be available on NBA League Pass. Sacramento?s dismal season has gone from bad to worse with seven losses in its last eight games. The Kings were blown out 126-96 by Oklahoma City last Tuesday as a nine-point road underdog and then trounced by Dallas 116-100 as an 11-point road underdog the following night. They are currently 13-40 straight-up on the season, but a slightly better 22-30-1 against the spread.

Second-year guard Tyreke Evans and rookie center DeMarcus Cousins continue to provide hope for the future of this team. Evans is averaging 18.3 points and 5.5 assists and Cousins is adding 14 points and a team-high 8.3 rebounds. One thing to watch for this game is the playing status of Evans as he is listed as questionable with a foot injury.

Miami cruised into the All-Star break with nine victories in its last 10 games. It quickly bounced back from an 85-82 loss to Boston on Feb.13 as a 2 ½-point road favorite with a 110-103 win over Indiana as a five-point road favorite and a 103-95 victory over Toronto as a nine-point road favorite. The Heat are now tied atop the Eastern Conference with the Celtics at 41-15 SU (28-27-1 ATS).

Dwyane Wade tweaked his ankle in Sunday?s All-Star game but is listed as probable for this one. He joins LeBron James as Miami?s top scorers as each is averaging around 26 points a game. The third member of South Beach?s Big Three, Chris Bosh is third in scoring with 18.5 points and second in rebounds with 8.1 a game. Miami is averaging 102 points a game and has the highest scoring differential in the league over its opponents at +7.82.

With Evans out of the lineup the Kings have little or no chance to cover in this game. Even if he does play it will be a tall task for Sacramento to travel cross-country and remain competitive with the Heat for four quarters. Stick with Miami and give the 15 points in this one.

NBA Pick: Sacramento Kings at Miami Heat
