A pair of former Cy Young winners take the mound on Wednesday when the
Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners wrap up a three-game series at
Safeco Field. First pitch is at 10:10 PM ET.

2011 Cy Young and MVP winner Justin Verlander (12-6 W-L, 3.52 ERA)
pitched a 4-3 home win over the New York Mets in his last outing. He
allowed a pair of runs on four hits over six innings, striking out nine
and walking one. He’s now 5-0 in his last seven starts. The 33-year-old
righty is 10-8 in 19 career starts against the Mariners, posting a 3.35
ERA. Verlander is 5-3 in 10 road starts this season with a 3.76 ERA.

2010 Cy Young winner Felix Hernandez (6-4 W-L, 3.55 ERA) allowed two
homers in a 6-4 home win over the Los Angeles Angels along with four
runs on three hits in eight innings. Hernandez struck out six and walked
three, but he got the win, which was his second in his last four
starts. The 30-year-old has been fantastic against the Tigers over his
career; he’s 9-3 in 14 starts against Detroit, posting a 2.57 ERA.

MLB Tuesday Preview & Free Pick- Miami Marlins at Detroit Tigers - Handicappers Hideaway

The Miami Marlins kick off a brief two-game interleague matchup against
the Detroit Tigers this Tuesday night in a 7:10 p.m. (ET) start at
Comerica Park. BetAnySports
has opened the Marlins as -110 favorites with Detroit listed as an even
+100 home underdog. The total line for this game has been set at 9.5.

Miami has climbed within three games on Washington in the NL East behind
a 7-3 record in its last 10 games. This past weekend they took three of
four from the Chicago Cubs at home including a 6-1 win on Sunday as
-151 home favorites on BetAnySports’ closing money line.
The total went OVER 6.5 in that game and it has gone OVER in Miami’s
last three outings. It heads on the road with a 20-16 record in 36
previous road games this year.

The Marlins have been able to generate an average of 4.8 runs over their
last 10 games and on the year they are averaging 4.2 runs a game. Look
for Adam Conley to get the start on Tuesday night. The right-hander is
coming off a strong outing against Atlanta last week in which he pitched
eight full innings of shutout ball while allowing four hits. On the
year, he is an even 4-4 with a 3.56 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP.

Detroit will try an snap a three-game skid after getting swept by
Cleveland at home this past weekend. This came on the heels of a
four-game sweep of its own over Seattle last week following three losses
to Kansas City on the road. This roller-coaster ride has the Tigers at
an even 38-38 on the year and seven games in back of Cleveland in the AL
Central Division race. They are 21-16 at home this season and the total
has stayed UNDER in four of their last six home games on BetAnySports’ closing line.

Mike Pelfrey is scheduled to get the start for Detroit on Tuesday night.
He has also pitched out of the bullpen this season in a struggle to
hold onto that fifth spot in the rotation. Through 14 previous starts,
the right-hander is just 1-7 with a 4.91 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP. Overall,
Detroit is ranked 13th in the AL in pitching with a team ERA of 4.60.

I like Miami in this matchup as a slight road favorite. The Marlins have
been playing solid ball lately and Conley gives them the edge on the
mound.

What You Need To Know Before Tigers Host Jays This Weekend - Handicappers Hideaway

Betting on Detroit Tigers Baseball

What You Need To Know Before Tigers Host Jays This Weekend

A pair of underperforming but formidable opponents will collide in
Michigan this weekend as the Detroit Tigers host the Toronto Blue Jays.
More than just a battle of wills, the series is relevant to those
anxious to capitalize on a trend that’s emerged in the Tigers’ recent
track record.

Bet on baseball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

In each of their past 10 games, the Tigers and their opponents have
combined to plate more runs than the over/under suggests. That’s what
happens when the pitching staff of one of the most prolific hitting
teams in the league starts to struggle. In addition to Detroit’s 5.6
runs per game over the span, they’ve allowed an average of 6.5.

This weekend the Tigers will look to gain ground in the AL Central as
the Blue Jays look to claw their way up the AL East. Both squads are
capable of conference dominance, and both have the talent required for a
successful season, yet both teams have coasted safely in the middle of
the pack so far.

According to oddsmakers, both teams are decent long-term MLB betting
options. The Tigers are 16/1 to win the World Series compared to
Toronto’s 20/1.

MLB Playoff Teams Set for 2014, but Seeding Far From Settled

Betting on MLB

You’ve bet on Major League Baseball all season long, and now it’s
time to start prepping for the postseason. Heading into the final
weekend of the 2014 campaign, critics and oddsmakers will pay attention
to how the teams in the hot seats handle the final sprint. Although we
may know the majority of the teams in the mix, the seeding is up to
them.

Bet on Major League Baseball and get a free 50% bonus.

The final weekend of the season should be heated for three wild card
hopefuls. The Athletics (10/1 to win the World Series), Royals (16/1)
and Giants (12/1) can clinch their berth with one victory (and in
Oakland and Kansas City’s case, a Mariners’ loss). All three will be in
action against non-playoff teams this weekend.

As for the division leaders, the Angels are 5/1 to win the World
Series, and the Nationals are 11/2 to win. The Angels are in front of
the National League by three games, whereas the Nationals sit just one
game ahead of the Dodgers (11/2) and remain in flux.

In some respects the division races aren’t even over. The Tigers
(6/1) and Cardinals (17/2) may hold the upper hand heading into the
final stretch of the regular season, but don’t think that the Royals and
Pirates (12/1) aren’t still eligible to reclaim the thrones.

MLB Odds: Stacked Tigers Desperate To End Struggles

Betting on Detroit Tigers Baseball

The Detroit Tigers have been a popular MLB betting option for the
better part of the past half decade, and it’s not hard to see why. When
the franchise added third Cy Young award winner David Price to their
rotation earlier this month, baseball fans had every reason to get
excited. Fast forward to this week, and their reign atop the AL Central
is potentially at an end.

Bet on baseball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Though the Tigers are still neck and neck with the upstart Kansas
City Royals for the division title, there’s no guarantee that the Tigers
will finish at the top. There never was, truthfully, but it seemed
inevitable.

This weekend the Tigers will host a fellow American League Wild Card
contender, the Seattle Mariners. The Tigers may not be able to do much
about Kansas City’s recent hot streak, but they can certainly take their
destiny into their own hands by making sure they at least hold onto a
playoff berth.

Having Price, Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer going to work in a
postseason series is a fascinating concept and a major reason why the
Tigers are 6/1 to win the World Series. But in order for anything to
come to fruition, they’re going to have to win ball games now.

MLB Odds: Red-Hot Angels Face Judgment Day in Four-Game Tigers Series

Betting on Angels MLB

The Los Angeles Angels are one of two clubs to have hit the 60-win
mark by this time in the summer, but that doesn’t secure them a spot in
the postseason. The Angels are heavy favorites to claim an American
League wild card berth, but they still trail the Oakland Athletics in
the AL West. Such is life in Major League Baseball. The MLB betting
community should take note.

Bet on baseball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Winning seven of their last 10 games, the Angels have established
themselves as a dominant force in their division. Led by third year
wunderkind Mike Trout (.309 batting average, 76 RBI and 24 home runs)
the Angels are 9/1 to win the World Series. This weekend they’ll get the
opportunity to prove that they deserve those odds.

If L.A. has truly turned the corner and emerged as a contender,
they’ll have no problem hosting the Tigers. The Angels are just 26-27
against the spread when playing at home this season, so pay special
attention to how they respond in the first game of the four-game set on
Thursday.

There’s a lot riding on how Los Angeles fares over the next few
weeks. If they’re going to seriously contend for a title, they’ll have
to continue pushing forward.

MLB Odds: Red-Hot Angels Face Judgment Day in Four-Game Tigers Series

BetAnySports’ MLB Pick of the Week: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Detroit Tigers- Tuesday, July 8

Betting on Detroit Tigers Baseball

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Detroit Tigers- Tuesday, July 8

BetAnySports’ current line: Tigers -110 and the total is listed at 8 1/2

BetAnySports listed the Los Angeles Dodgers as +275 favorites to win
the National League before the new MLB season got underway. It also had
Detroit listed as a +350 favorite to win the American League. In what
could easily be a preview of this year’s World Series, these two MLB
powers will now square-off in a brief two-game interleague battle
starting this Tuesday night at Comerica Park.

The Dodgers come into Tuesday’s series opener with some solid
momentum after winning six of their last nine games. After trailing San
Francisco in the NL West for a good part of the season, they have opened
a half-game lead over the Giants as of Sunday’s games with a record of
51-40. Los Angeles is one of best road teams in the Majors at 29-17 and
the total has stayed UNDER in four of its last six games on the road.

It will be Hyun-Jin Ryu’s turn in the Dodgers’ starting rotation for
Tuesday night. The left-hander has picked-up where he left off after a
stellar rookie campaign with a 9-4 mark in 16 previous starts this
season. He is coming off another quality start in which he held
Cleveland to two earned runs on seven hits through seven full innings
pitched. Ryu has a 3.08 ERA on the year with a WHIP of 1.19.

It has been a constant roller-coaster ride for Detroit this season
and it is on another downhill run after losing three of four to Tampa
Bay this past weekend. This followed an impressive three-game sweep of
Oakland last week with all seven games played at home. The Tigers still
have a four-game lead over Kansas City in the AL Central title race at
48-37, but they have really struggled to consistently win at home this
year with a record of 23-22. The total on BetAnySports’ closing betting
odds has gone OVER in their last five games.

Justin Verlander is scheduled to be on the mound as Detroit’s starter
for Tuesday’s contest. He has also had his share of ups and downs this
season, but the right-hander appears to have regained his form by
allowing a total of seven earned runs in his last three starts.
Verlander held the Athletics to two earned runs on nine hits to pick-up
his seventh win of the season last Wednesday and he is now 7-7 on the
year with a 4.71 ERA in 18 previous starts.

BetAnySports
has opened Los Angeles as a +111 road underdog for Tuesday night with
Detroit listed as a -110 home favorite. The total for this contest has
been set at 8.5. This game should feature a great showdown on the mound
that could easily be worthy of a play on BetAnySport’s UNDER betting
line, but I am going with Verlander and the Tigers to get a much-needed
win at home as my top pick in this matchup.

The Tampa Bay Rays and the Detroit Tigers will both be trying to pick up a win on Sunday when they battle at Comerica Park.

David Price will be the starting pitcher for the Rays on this day. Left hander Price is 7-7 this season with a 3.50 ERA.

It’ll be Rick Porcello toeing the rubber for the Tigers in this
contest. Right hander Porcello is 11-4 with a 3.21 ERA so far this
season.

Oddsmakers currently have the Rays listed as 120-moneyline favorites versus the Tigers, while the game’s total is sitting at 7½.

In their last action, Tampa Bay was a 7-2 winner on the road against
the Tigers. Bettors on Tampa Bay at +116 on the moneyline collected
their winnings from that game, while the total score (9) sent OVER
bettors home happy as well.

BetAnySports’ MLB Pick of the Week: Detroit Tigers vs. Texas Rangers- Tuesday, June 24

Betting on Texas Rangers Baseball

Detroit Tigers vs. Texas Rangers- Tuesday, June 24

In a battle between two teams heading in opposite directions, the
Detroit Tigers will put their current four-game winning streak on the
line this Tuesday night against the struggling Texas Rangers at Globe
Life Park in Arlington. This series opener is set to get underway at
8:05 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on the MLB Network.

Detroit has had its own share of struggles over the past few weeks
but it has appeared to have righted the ship with a three-game sweep of
Cleveland this past weekend following a 2-1 victory over Kansas City
last Thursday as a 156 home favorite on BetAnySports’
closing MLB moneyline. This helped to erase the memory of a 3-7 slide
in its previous 10 games. It is now 40-32 on the year with a solid 21-13
record on the road. The total has gone OVER in the Tigers’ last three
outings after pounding out a total of 21 runs against the Indians.

This burst of power at the plate has the Tigers ranked sixth in the
American League in scoring with an average of 4.56 runs per game.
Overall pitching continues to be an issue with a team ERA of 4.12. Drew
Smyly is scheduled to get the start for Detroit in Tuesday night’s
series opener. The left-hander has looked sharp in the month of June
with a 1.89 ERA and a OPS of .624 in his last three starts.

The Rangers’ losing streak reached five games after getting swept by
the Los Angeles Angels in three games this past weekend. This came on
the heels of a 2-1 series loss to Oakland that has them trailing the
Athletics in the AL West by 11.5 games with an overall record of 35-40.
Texas is 16-19 at home this season and the total has gone OVER in seven
of their last nine home games.

Texas matches-up well against the Tigers in scoring with an average
of 4.24 runs per game but its pitching staff has been even shakier this
season with a staff ERA of 4.51, which is ranked last in the AL. The
Rangers will turn to Colby Lewis as their starter for Tuesday night. It
has been rough go of it for the right-hander in his last six starts
after allowing five earned runs in four of those outings. Overall, he is
5-4 this season with a 5.97 ERA through 12 previous starts.

BetAnySports
has opened Detroit as a slight -107 road favorite for this contest and
despite the fact that it is just 1-5 in its last six road games against
the Rangers, I am sticking with the hot hand in this one with a play on
the Tigers.

Starting this game for the Tigers will be Anibal Sanchez. The right
hander has a 2.15 ERA to go along with a 2-2 record this season.

Oddsmakers currently have the Tigers listed as 127-moneyline
favorites versus the Red Sox, while the game’s total is sitting at 7½.

In their last action, Boston was a 8-6 loser on the road against the
Tigers. Bettors on Detroit at -125 on the moneyline collected their
winnings from that game, while the total score (14) sent OVER bettors
home happy as well.
