College Basketball Odds: Kentucky-Wisconsin at Final Four - Handicappers Hideaway

College Basketball Odds: Kentucky-Wisconsin at Final Four

It almost didn’t happen, but the Kentucky Wildcats are in the Final
Four. They edged past the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (+11) 68-66 to run
their undefeated record to 38-0 (19-17-2 ATS). But the Wildcats are only
1-3 ATS at the Big Dance, and this Saturday, they’re giving five
points to the Wisconsin Badgers (35-3 SU, 20-17-1 ATS) as we go to
press.

Bet on college basketball at Bovada and get a 50% welcome bonus.

It’s difficult to find any betting value on any undefeated team. This
spot is even tougher for chalkeaters; Wisconsin has the top-ranked
offense in Division I according to Ken Pomeroy’s advanced stats. The
Badgers also employ one of the slowest offenses in college hoops. Fewer
possessions means fewer opportunities for Kentucky to build a big lead
and cover the spread.

If you’re a Kentucky supporter and you can’t bring yourself to fade the
‘Cats, there’s always the under. Kentucky is the best defensive team in
Division I, taking the under to the pay window in three straight games
and 15 of its last 18 non-conference matchups. Slowpoke Wisconsin has
the under at 9-3 over the past dozen games against the SEC. Saturday’s
game (8:49 PM ET, TBS) has a total of 132 at press time.

College Basketball Odds: Top Ranked Kentucky Tries to Roll Tide

Betting on Kentucky basketball

There’s no doubt about it: the Kentucky Wildcats own the 2014-2015
college basketball season. They’ve already rattled off 16 straight wins
at 9-7 ATS, becoming the runaway March Madness favorites at even money.
They’ll try to keep the good times rolling this Saturday (4:00 PM ET,
ESPN) when they visit the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Bet on college basketball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Wildcats head coach John Calipari is easily one of the top recruiters in
the sport. This year’s crop of UK freshmen is loaded with talent,
including 6-foot-11 forward Karl-Anthony Towns (27.3 PER), who’s putting
up 17.1 points, 13.7 rebounds and 4.8 blocks per 40 minutes. Towns and
7-foot junior forward Willie Cauley-Stein (27.5 PER) give Kentucky the
top defense in Division I, according to Ken Pomeroy’s efficiency stats.
The under is 12-4 when the Wildcats play.

The Crimson Tide (12-4 SU, 8-5-1 ATS) have played some good basketball
this year, and while they had their six-game winning streak snapped on
Tuesday by the South Carolina Gamecocks, the Tide still cashed in as
4-point road dogs in a competitive 68-66 loss. However, Alabama will be
at a serious height disadvantage in Saturday’s matchup. The under might
be the right play here after going 5-1 in Alabama’s past six games.

2014 Final Four Player Prop Bets & Alternate Lines

2014NCAA Tournament

“As expected, 60% of the action so far has come in on the Wildcats -2
vs. Wisconsin but I can’t see us moving that line unless the position
gets really

out of control. UConn and Florida have held pretty steady at -6 with
50/50 money so far, but from a futures perspective UConn remains a huge
winner for

the book while Florida is not such a great result. So there is no
doubt, we will be Huskies and Badgers here at the office come Saturday.”

College Basketball Odds: Streaking Florida Braces for Rematch with UCONN

2014NCAA Tournament

The Florida Gators were the consensus favorite heading into the Big
Dance and have shown nothing that would suggest otherwise over the
course of the first four games of tournament play. On Saturday they’ll
look to continue to follow through on their nation-leading college
basketball odds with a semifinal victory against the Connecticut
Huskies.

Bet on college basketball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Riding a 30-game win streak, it’s hard to consider any opponent
worthy of knocking off the Billy Donovan-helmed ball club. In fact, the
last time Florida actually lost a game was back in early December. No
wonder they have -110 odds to win the NCAA Tournament.

But wait a minute, here’s where things get interesting. On December
2, before launching their season-making win streak, the Gators fell to
an unlikely foe: the Connecticut Huskies.

Now with a six-point advantage over UCONN, the Gators will have to
prove that they?re a better team now than they were early in the season.
Florida’s well-balanced offensive core means little if they can’t come
up with an answer for Huskies guard Shabazz Napier.

Napier, let’s not forget, hit the game winning jumper on that fateful December night.

Averaging 18.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, Napier
is an NBA-bound swingman capable of dominating a basketball game. While
Florida may have established themselves as an overwhelmingly powerful
program capable of swallowing up entire teams, they’re going to have to
show that they can shut down individuals as well — especially those who
are stars in the making.

Don’t forget to bet on the Wisconsin-Kentucky clash to crown the winner of the other side of the bracket.

March Madness: Odds to win the Final Four and the M.O.P

2014 NCAA Tournament

“Kentucky remains a popular pick even at 5-2 and if the Wildcats
were to win it all would be our worst result from a futures perspective,
while UConn or Wisconsin cutting down the nets would be terrific for
the book. I expect our bettors to come in heavy on Kentucky -2 and can
see that line moving a touch if the action comes in as much as I expect.
With Florida -6, I would expect a little more balanced money with the
higher spread.”

The fans at Stephen O'Connell Center will be treated to a game between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Florida Gators when they take their seats on Sunday.

Oddsmakers currently have the Wildcats listed as 5-point favorites versus the Gators, while the game's total is sitting at 139½.

Kentucky won its last outing, a 79-49 result against Georgia on March 1. They covered in that game as a 18.5-point favorite.

Florida was a 77-67 loser in their most recent outing on the road against Vanderbilt. They failed to cover the 3.5-point spread as underdogs.

Georgia Bulldogs vs. No.1 Kentucky Wildcats

Pointspread: Kentucky -19

Total Line: 128

The Georgia Bulldogs will try and pull-off a second-straight upset of a ranked team this Thursday night in a SEC match up against the No.1 ranked Kentucky Wildcats. The tip-off from Rupp Arena is slated for 9 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Georgia comes into this game fresh-off Saturday's stunning 76-62 victory over No.13 Florida as a 7.5-point home underdog. This shocker aside, the Bulldogs? overall body of work this season has been less than impressive with a 13-15 straight-up record overall and a 4-10 SU record in the conference. They are 11-13 against the spread and 6-6 ATS on the road. The total has stayed "under" in seven of the 12 road games.

Beating Florida at home is one thing, but going on the road against the No.1 team in the nation with an offense that is averaging 61.5 points a game and shooting just 39.7 percent from the floor is a whole other story. Georgia's goal on Thursday night should be to keep this a 10-point game late into the second half.

Kentucky has already clinched the SEC regular season title and has this game and a season-ending showdown with Florida left on the slate before the start of next week's conference tournament. The Wildcats are an impressive 28-1 SU overall and a perfect 18-0 SU at home, but the caution flag has to go up in light of a 10-17-1 overall record ATS and a dismal 4-12-1 record ATS at home.

On paper, this game should be over at the half with the Wildcats averaging 77.8 points and 39.2 rebounds a game while shooting 48.8 percent from the field. The question is, how motivated will Kentucky be playing a team it already beat 57-44 in late January as a 12-point road favorite?

Georgia is 4-13 ATS in its last 17 games following a SU win and the total has stayed "under" in six of its last eight games following a SU win.

Kentucky is 2-5 ATS in its last seven games against a team with a losing record and 3-12-1 ATS in its last 16 games following an ATS loss. The total has stayed ?under? in five of its last seven Thursday games.

The road team in this series is 18-6 ATS in the last 24 meetings and the Bulldogs are 5-0 ATS in their last five trips to Rupp Arena. The total stayed "under" the 130.5-point line the last time they met but had gone "over" in four of the previous five meetings.

Stick with the recent trends in this series and the Wildcats inability to cover huge spreads at home, as Georgia keeps things close enough to cover on the road.

The Pick: Kentucky 68 Georgia 57

College Basketball Betting Pits Struggling Miss St. Against No. 1 Kentucky

Anthony Davis and the top-ranked Kentucky Wildcats will look to extend their win streak this week while strengthening their grip on the college basketball betting line. Already favored to win the March Madness tournament, the No. 1 club will travel to Mississippi State for battle with the No. 23 Bulldogs.

Can the fringe contender Bulldogs pull off their biggest victory of the season after a pair of back-to-back losses last week? This Tuesday, with the NCAA odds stacked against them, they'll look to put a dent in Kentucky's flawless conference record.

Currently the Wildcats sit out in front of the SEC pack, including No. 12 Florida who remains a clear-cut second in the division. A win would allow Mississippi State a share of the spotlight while climbing further up the polls.

According to Bovada's college basketball odds makers, the Wildcats have a nation-leading 3/1 shot of winning the NCAA tournament. On that same March Madness futures line, the Bulldogs come in at just 200/1.

Still, provided Mississippi State can hold on for the final weeks of the regular season, they'll find themselves in the bracket of 64 where anything can happen. Bet on college basketball today with Bovada.

UNC Tar Heels vs. Kentucky Wildcats Odds (-1.5, 146.5) 5:05 PM ET, CBS

A college basketball fan?s dream-come-true matchup will decide the final team to go to the Big Dance. These teams have two things in common; they have NBA prospects and they are young, so young. We may not see some of these underclassmen at the college level next year.

These are college basketball?s two winningest programs and share 12 NCAA titles and 31 semifinal appearances. In a year of upsets number two UNC will face number 4 Kentucky. Coaches Calipari and Williams will be strategizing their match-ups and the pace of the game.

The Tar Heels want to run. They play excellent transition basketball and of late have vastly improved their half court play. Since freshman Kendall Marshall took over the point the inside power of Zeller, Henson and Barnes has been unleashed. These are probably the best three front men in the tournament. Zeller had 32 points against Marquette and Henson and Barnes were hitting from inside and outside. Henson?s shot blocking abilities are unparalleled. The Heels played a miraculous first half against Marquette. If they play with that fire for 40 minutes, the Heels can go all the way.

Kentucky upset the top seed in the tournament and was poised throughout the win over Ohio State. Just when the game looked like it was going to overtime, up stood Brandon Knight and nailed a pull up jump shot to seal the deal.

The Wildcats will need a strong effort from their inside men, especially rookie sensation Terrence Jones. There are so many intriguing high profile match-ups in this game that foul trouble could spell the difference. UNC lacks depth, but Coach Williams always comes up with an answer. Expect Knight to have a quiet game.

The UNC frontcourt is too good for Kentucky. Take 1.5 points and the Heels.

VCU Rams vs. Kansas Jayhawks Betting (-11.5, 146.5) 2:20 PM ET, CBS

The best looking team in the tournament has been Kansas. With the ouster of Ohio State, Kansas is the clear favorite to win the title. The VCU Rams have surpassed everyone?s expectations and have certainly performed the way the selection committee thought they would.

VCU wins with their intensity and with their confidence. They use lots of fresh faces to keep the energy level high. Somehow, you get the feeling that VCU will make a game of this despite being out-manned and outgunned. Since tournament time arrived, Kansas has cut down on their turnovers. Their inside-outside combo is too much for the Rams.

Kansas struts their stuff and erases all doubts in this one. Give 11.5 points and take the Jayhawks.
