John Tavares Makes Islanders Profitable Underdog on NHL Betting Line

The New York Islanders may not climb the NHL betting line any time soon, but with John Tavares on point guiding the rag-tag lineup through the dog days of the season, anything can happen. Having erupted for 22 points in 13 January games, the third-year first-overall pick is blossoming into a full-fledged star.

Will Tavares' offensive outburst ever push the Islanders to a level of relevance in the NHL betting world? He perhaps already has. Although the Isles may have their work cut out for them on the Stanley Cup futures board - especially in the arduous Atlantic Division, they remain a profitable albeit risky option on the individual game line.

Given that the Islanders managed to knock off the Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers and Nashville Predators last month, it should come as no surprise that they're ready and waiting for the next opponent to underestimate them.

This Saturday New York will play host to the Buffalo Sabres, a club they've prevailed over twice already this season. Will Tavares' manage to steal the show yet again, pushing his slowly-developing team further up the standings?
