Our next Wednesday Night Rivalry game (8:00 PM ET, NBCSN) takes us to
the American midwest, where the Chicago Blackhawks will host the St.
Louis Blues in a key Central Division matchup. These teams have been
rivals since 1981, when they were paired in the Norris Division. They
were also part of the old NHL West in the early ‘70s.

Both franchises have suffered some lean years along the way, but this
season, they’re within striking distance of first place in the overall
standings. The Blues (16-6-0-2, minus-0.04 units) have a slight edge
over the Blackhawks (15-8-0-1, minus-1.48 units) after 24 games.
However, Chicago won last year’s Conference quarter-finals in six games
over St. Louis.
Chicago also leads the league in Corsi For Percentage (56.9%),
Fenwick For Percentage (56.2%) and Offensive Zone Start Percentage
(57.9%). The Blackhawks are 15/2 co-favourites on the Stanley Cup
futures market as we go to press, and St. Louis is third at 10/1. This
Wednesday, each team could be without its top goal-scorer from last
year: Patrick Sharp (lower body injury) for the Hawks and Alex Steen
(hand) for the Blues.
