Notre Dame Looking for Double Bye in ACC at Louisville

Top 4 Teams get Double Bye in ACC Tourney

The fans at KFC Yum! Center will the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Louisville Cardinals battle on Saturday.  The top four seeds in the league each get a double bye. With a win Louisville is assured of at least a double bye. A win assures the Fighting Irish of a double bye. So there is a lot at stake this afternoon.

There are all kinds of scenarios that have some combination of Notre Dame, Louisville, Florida State or Duke being in the No. 2-5 seed in the ACC Tournament. The easiest way to look at this is essentially Louisville and Notre Dame are playing Saturday to not have to play next Wednesday.

Whichever team doesn't get the double bye will have to win four games in four days to win the ACC title. The tournament winner gets the league's automatic NCAA bid.

Oddsmakers opened the Cardinals as -8-point favorites versus the Fighting Irish, while the game's total opened at 146.5.

Louisville was a 88-81 loser in their most recent outing on the road against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. They failed to cover the -4-point spread as favorites. Louisville will have to get sophomore leading scorer Mitchell more involved. He only had seven points during the Cardinals' 88-81 loss at Wake Forest Wednesday night.

In their last action, Notre Dame was a 82-66 winner at home against the Boston College Eagles. They covered the -15.5-point spread as favorites. The Irish have won their last six games. They also have a victory over Louisville earlier this season.
