The San Jose Sharks have a 25-year history of playoff frustration in the
books, but they can exorcise some of those ghosts by beating the St.
Louis Blues this Wednesday (9 PM ET, CBC and NBCSN). The Sharks took a
3-2 lead in their Western Conference final Monday night, coming from
behind twice and scoring two empty-net goals to down the Blues 6-3 as
very slim –105 road dogs. Oddsmakers currently have the Sharks as
155-favorites on the moneyline and the total is at 5 Over (-125).

St. Louis decided to go with Jake Allen (.920 save percentage during the
regular season) between the pipes for Game 5, after Allen took over for
Brian Elliott (.930 SV%) in Saturday's Game 4 and helped secure a 6-3
victory for the Blues at +135 on the closing line. However, Allen
stopped just 21 of 25 shots on Monday. Elliott is considered probable at
press time to return for Game 6.

The Sharks have made the Conference Finals three times since joining the
NHL in 1991, but they have yet to play for the Stanley Cup. New head
coach Peter DeBoer could change all that Wednesday night; DeBoer led the
2011-12 New Jersey Devils to the Cup final in his first season in
Newark.

NHL Odds: Young Goalies for Lightning, Penguins - Handicappers Hideaway

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins are both relying on
young goaltenders to get them to the Stanley Cup Final. In the case of
the Lightning, it could come back to haunt them. Andrei Vasilevskiy
(.910 save percentage during the regular season) gave up the winning
goal 40 seconds into overtime Monday night, as the Penguins (–225 at
home) prevailed to even their series at 1-1 heading into Wednesday's
Game 3 at the Amalie Arena. Game time is 8 PM ET on CBC and NBCSN.
Oddsmakers have the Penquins as -130 moneylline favorites while the
total is at 5.

Bet on hockey at Bovada and get a free 100% bonus.

The 21-year-old Vasilevskiy actually played quite well in Game 2, making
38 saves in his first start of the playoffs. But the sophomore back-up
has a tall task replacing Ben Bishop (.926 SV%), who left Game 1 of this
series with a leg injury that appeared quite serious at the time.
Bishop might be able to return later in this series; however, his
availability for Game 3 is in serious doubt.

The Penguins, meanwhile, have enjoyed tremendous success behind
20-year-old Matt Murray (.930 SV%). He stepped in earlier this year for
injured veteran Marc-Andre Fleury (.921 SV%) and played so brilliantly,
he's the new No. 1 goalie in Pittsburgh.

NHL Odds: Caps Need Game 4 Win in Pittsburgh - Handicappers Hideaway

The Washington Capitals may have been the top team in the NHL during the
regular season, but if they don't beat the Pittsburgh Penguins this
Wednesday (8 PM ET, NBCSN) in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference
semifinal, it could mean an early trip to the golf course. Pittsburgh
carries a 2-1 series lead into Wednesday's game at the Consol Energy
Center after beating the Caps 3-2 Monday night as a –140 home favourite.
Oddsmakers have the Pens as a -130 favorite on the Moneyline and the
total is at 5.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

Not much has gone right for the Capitals since they took a 3-0 lead over
the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round. Washington has lost four of
the past six games, and defenseman Brooks Orpik (three goals, plus-11)
was handed a three-game suspension for a late hit on Pittsburgh
blueliner Olli Maatta. Orpik won't be available until Game 6 – if the
Capitals make it that far.

The Penguins have accomplished all this without the services of their
No. 1 goaltender; Marc-Andre Fleury (.921 save percentage) has been out
with a concussion since early April. Matt Murray (.930 SV%) started the
last six games for Pittsburgh, and his only loss was in Game 1 of this
series, when Washington (–135 at home) prevailed 4-3 in overtime.

NHL Odds: Game 7 for Predators, Ducks - Handicappers Hideaway

There's one more game left in the first round of the Stanley Cup
Playoffs. The Nashville Predators will visit the Anaheim Ducks Wednesday
night (10 PM ET, NBCSN) for Game 7 of their Western Conference
quarterfinal; Nashville extended the series Monday with a 3-1 victory,
as Pekka Rinne made 26 of 27 saves for the Preds.

The Ducks (46-25-11 during the regular season) were expected to make
short work of Nashville (41-27-14) after winning their fourth straight
Pacific Division title, all under head coach Bruce Boudreau. Anaheim was
available at +800 on the Stanley Cup futures market going into the
playoffs, compared to +2500 for the Predators. But Nashville has knotted
this series despite getting outscored 17-12.

The Preds might have already eliminated Anaheim had forward Craig Smith
(21 goals, 37 points) not gotten injured early in Game 3, after
Nashville won the first two games at the Honda Center. Smith returned
Monday and played right wing on the second line with Calle Jarnkrok (16
goals, 30 points) on the left and Mike Ribeiro (seven goals, 50 points)
in the middle; Smith also took his usual turn on the power play, logging
14:23 of total ice time.

NHL Odds: Panthers Need a Win in Brooklyn - Handicappers Hideaway

The Atlantic Division-champion Florida Panthers (47-26-9) will be on the
brink of elimination if they don't beat the New York Islanders
(45-27-10) Wednesday night. The Islanders have taken a 2-1 lead over
Florida in this Eastern Conference quarterfinal, winning Game 1 as +140
road dogs and Game 3 as –115 home favourites. Game 4 at Barclays Center
starts at 7 PM ET. Oddsmakers have the Islanders as -110 favorites while
the total is at 5.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

Even though New York has the advantage, this has been a very close
matchup, with each team scoring 10 goals after three games. That's still
an impressive performance by the Islanders; they were the underdogs
going into the first round, posting a decent plus-16 goal differential
during the regular season compared to Florida's plus-36. The Panthers
won their season series 2-1, outscoring New York 10-6.

The Islanders have also done very well considering they don't have
forwards Anders Lee (15 goals, 36 points) and Mikhail Grabovski (nine
goals, 25 points) available for the first round. Lee suffered a broken
left leg earlier this month, while Grabovski is out indefinitely with
concussion-like symptoms. Meanwhile, Panthers centre Vincent Trocheck
(25 goals, 53 points) could return from his broken foot in either Game 4
or Game 5.

NHL Odds: Hawks Begin Cup Defense Versus Blues - Handicappers Hideaway

This could be the best series in the entire Stanley Cup playoffs. The
defending champion Chicago Blackhawks (47-26-9) have drawn the St. Louis
Blues (49-24-9) in the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Game 1 is
Wednesday night at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, starting at 9:30
PM ET on NBCSN. Oddsmakers have the Blues as a -125 favorite on the
moneyline in Game #1 and the total is sitting at 5.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

Although the Blues finished the 2015-2016 regular season with the better
record, Chicago skates into the playoffs with shorter odds on the
Stanley Cup futures market. The Hawks are the second-favorites at +800
(along with LA, Anaheim, Dallas and Pittsburgh), a step ahead of St.
Louis at +1000. These two teams faced each other five times during the
regular season; the Blues won three games, with the total split evenly
at 2-2-1.

Chicago will be without defenseman Duncan Keith (nine goals, 43 points)
for Wednesday's opener. The two-time Norris Trophy winner has one game
left to go in his six-game suspension for hitting Minnesota Wild forward
Charlie Coyle in the face with his stick. The Hawks also have a number
of players listed as questionable for Game 1, including top-line centre
Artem Anisimov (20 goals, 42 points) and second-line right wing Marian
Hossa (13 goals, 33 points). The Blues will have all their key players
available Wednesday.

NHL Odds: Lightning Toast Rangers, Take Home-Ice Advantage - Handicappers Hideaway

NHL Odds: Lightning Toast Rangers, Take Home-Ice Advantage

The floodgates finally opened on the New York Rangers. After 13
straight playoff games decided by one goal, the Rangers were pummeled
6-2 by the Tampa Bay Lightning (+125 away) on Monday, evening their
Eastern Conference final at one game apiece. Tampa Bay now takes
home-ice advantage into Wednesday’s Game 3 (8:00 PM ET, CBC) at the Ice
Palace.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

The Lightning managed to do what no team had done since early October:
score six times on Henrik Lundqvist. The former Vezina winner had a
.945 save percentage in these playoffs before getting lit up on Monday.
Meanwhile, it was business as usual at the other end, as the Rangers
scored exactly two goals for the eighth time in their 14 postseason
games.

A meltdown like this was bound to happen at some point. Tampa Bay led
the league in scoring during the regular season at 3.16 goals per game.
Given how the Rangers have struggled to score in these playoffs, and
given how well Ben Bishop (.931 save percentage) has played thus far,
three goals might be all it takes for the Bolts to win Wednesday’s game
and take a 2-1 series lead with Game 4 also at home.
