NFL Preseason Pick of the Week : New Orleans Saints at Baltimore Ravens- Thursday, Aug. 13 - Handicappers Hideaway

Betting on Ravens NFL Football

BetAnySports’ NFL Preseason Pick of the Week

New Orleans Saints at Baltimore Ravens- Thursday, Aug. 13

The New Orleans Saints will return to action in preseason football this
Thursday night with a trip to M&T Bank Stadium to face the Baltimore
Ravens. BetAnySports
listed the opening number on the Ravens as three-point home favorites
with the total set at 37.5.  The current line is now Baltimore as a 2
1/2-point favorite and the total now is sitting at 38.

This will be the third meeting between these two teams in the last two
years after they faced one another both in the preseason and regular
season in 2014. The Ravens came out on top both times starting with a
22-13 victory in late August as three-point road underdogs. The total
stayed UNDER the closing 41.5-point line. They went on to beat the
Saints again 34-27 as 2.5-point underdogs on the road. The total went
OVER BetAnySports’ closing 50.5-point line in that game.

The Saints went 7-9 straight-up last season to finish second in the NFC
South. It was just the second time in the last six seasons that New
Orleans failed to make it into the postseason. With Drew Brees at the
helm as quarterback, the offense put up some big numbers in 2014. This
unit led the NFL in both total yards and passing yards and it was ranked
ninth in scoring with an average of 25.1 points a game. The stats on
the other side of the ball were a whole other story with New Orleans
ranked 31st in the league in total yards allowed. This unit gave-up an
average of 26.5 points a game.

The Ravens’ SU 10-6 record last year was good enough to earn a wildcard
spot in the playoffs, but they bowed-out in the Divisional Round in a
35-31 loss to New England as seven-point road underdogs. This followed a
stunning 30-17 upset of rival Pittsburgh as three-point underdogs on
the road in the opening round of the postseason.

Baltimore was ranked 12th in total yards and eighth in scoring with Joe
Flacco under center. Once again, the Ravens’ primary strength was on the
other side of the ball on defense. This unit allowed just 18.9 points,
which was sixth-best in the NFL.

You would have to think it will be a short night for both Brees and
Flacco in this preseason opener for both teams. Stick with the Ravens to
run their current winning streak in this matchup to four games while
covering BetAnySports’ 2 1/2-point spread.

All signs point to a Kurt Suzuki slump-busting game. - Handicappers Hideaway

Daily Fantasy Sports at DraftTeam

All signs point to a Kurt Suzuki slump-busting game.

Welcome back to another great week of Daily Fantasy Baseball advice.

Minnesota Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki ($7,098), who enjoyed one of his
best-hitting seasons last year, has experienced some major shrinkage in
his offensive output in 2015. And with a .192 mark over his last seven
games, things haven’t been getting any better. In fact, Suzuki has seen a
fair amount of pine time lately — but there is some good news.

The Twins kick off another series against Boston on Monday, and the
veteran backstop simply loves facing the BoSox, hitting safely in 13
straight games against them to the tune of a .417 mark. Better
yet,Boston is starting Clay Buchholz, a pitcher whom Suzuki is 9-for-18
against in his career. We’re banking on Suzuki snapping his slump in a
big way Monday.

It’s time to jump on Miami 1B Justin Bour’s ($11,658) train. This
rookie just keeps mauling pitchers, having gone deep three straight
games. In all, Bour is 24-for-65 (.369) with five dingers this season.
Oh sure, this may all be a weird anomaly, but that doesn’t mean you
shouldn’t take advantage of his hot streak while you can.

Colorado 2B DJ LeMahieu ($9,545) is an amazing pick right now. He had
a huge game Sunday (3-for-4, two runs, two-run homer) to raise his BA
to .380 over the last 13 games. Keep in mind, LeMahieu enjoyed an even
better April than May, and overall, we are loving how productive he’s
been this season.

But here’s the kicker: he has struggled against the Dodgers lately
(.146 BA over last 14 games) and specifically against Clayton Kershaw
(who hasn’t?), going just 2-for-14 over the last two seasons. We’re
recommending you discard the history and ride the hot hand — especially
considering that Kershaw hasn’t exactly looked like himself early on
this season.

Quick Hits

  • On Monday, Atlanta SP Alex Wood has a chance to win a third straight
start for the first time in his career — all on the road. He’s only
given up three runs in 14 IP over his last two outings.
  • Tampa Bay 3B Evan Longoria is 0-for-5 in his career against Monday’s
starter, Garrett Richards. Longo is also hitless in his last two games
with just a .227 mark over the last week and a substandard .262 BA in
    May.
  • Seattle SP Felix Hernandez (8-1 with a 1.91 ERA) is averaging over
seven innings per start, putting him on pace to top 225 frames for the
sixth time in his career. Workhorse!

Oddsmakers currently have the Mets listed as 130-moneyline favorites versus the Cardinals, while the game’s total is sitting at 6½.

NHL Odds: Battle of Pennsylvania on NBCSN - Handicappers Hideaway

NHL Odds: Battle of Pennsylvania on NBCSN

It’s time for another Wednesday Night Rivalry matchup on NBCSN (8:00 PM
ET), with the Philadelphia Flyers visiting the Pittsburgh Penguins in
the latest Battle of Pennsylvania. The Flyers won both their previous
meetings this year, but at 30-29-7-10, they’re officially eliminated
from playoff contention. Philadelphia is also 4.89 units in the red
against the puck line despite a 41-35 ATS record.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a 100% welcome bonus.

The Penguins, meanwhile, are in second place in the Metropolitan
Division as we go to press at 42-23-5-6, and they’ve managed to make a
small profit this season at 34-42 ATS and plus-1.44 units. Unlike past
years, Pittsburgh’s defense is getting them to the pay window; the
Penguins are tied for sixth overall at 2.42 goals allowed per game, with
Marc-Andre Fleury (.921 save percentage, 11.5 Goalie Point Shares)
carrying most of the workload.

Realizing that their playoff chances were slim, the Flyers dropped
ballast at the March 2 trade deadline, and they’ve won just three of 13
games since. The flu bug is also working its way through the dressing
room; it’s uncertain if defensemen Mark Streit and Carlo Colaiacovo will
play Wednesday after missing Saturday’s 3-2 shootout loss to the San
Jose Sharks (+102 away).

NHL Odds: Ducks-Bruins in Battle of Overvalued Teams - Handicappers Hideaway

NHL Odds: Ducks-Bruins in Battle of Overvalued Teams

They say it’s better to be lucky than good. The Anaheim Ducks have
enjoyed some of both; as we go to press, they’re in first place in the
Western Conference at 46-21-2-5, but that includes a ridiculously
fortunate 29-1-2-5 record in games decided by one goal. The Ducks will
test their luck Thursday night against the Boston Bruins, who need to go
find some four-leaf clovers if they’re going to clinch a playoff spot
in the East.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a 100% welcome bonus.

At 36-25-3-9, the Bruins are clinging to the last Wild Card spot in
their conference after losing five in a row. Their 28-45 record against
the puck line is well below break-even at minus-11.50 units in
earnings, but that’s nothing compared to the Ducks at 27-47 ATS record
and minus-27.57 units. Only the last-place Arizona Coyotes (33-40 ATS,
minus-30.78 units) have lost more money this year.

To emphasize how overvalued Anaheim is, Hockey Reference has the Ducks
at plus-0.14 on the Simple Rating System, leaving them seventh overall
in the West. Boston’s plus-0.02 SRS translates to ninth place in the
East. Game time for this matchup at the Garden is 7:00 PM ET on the NHL
Network.

NBA Odds: League-Leading Warriors Dominate Point Spread in 2015 - Handicappers Hideaway

NBA Odds: League-Leading Warriors Dominate Point Spread in 2015

If there was ever any doubt about the Golden State Warriors maintaining
their spot atop the NBA league, a late season surge has put the notion
to rest. The Warriors have been first in the league for the majority of
the season, and a recent winning streak has made their NBA odds even
more compelling.

Bet on basketball at Bovada and get a 50% welcome bonus.

There are a number of reasons why the Warriors have thrived in
2014-2015. Their 57-13 record as of press is four games higher than
league No. 2 Atlanta and seven games higher than the second-best squad
in the West, Memphis. Not only does the team win ball games, but they
cover the spread too; they’re 41-28-1 ATS as we go to press.

In the last two weeks alone the Warriors have beaten three double-digit
spreads and even took down the aforementioned Hawks by 19 points
against a 7-point spread.

In the coming days the franchise will try their luck against legitimate
contenders like the Blazers, Clippers and those pesky Grizzlies, so
take a good long look if you’re considering wagering on the upstart
powerhouse. The Dubs are 11/4 to win the NBA Championship, and that’s
hardly a stretch.
